The Mandate

So, after Sen. Obama dismantled Sen. McCain, and the Democratic Party swept up bigger majorities nationally in both chambers of congress, we can say clearly that Pres. Elect Obama has a clear mandate for his platform. What did this include?

  • Getting US troops out of Iraq, in 16 months
  • National Healthcare reform, getting universal coverage, and stronger regulation of HMO’s
  • Alternative Energy
  • Rebuilding America’s Infrastructure
  • Jobs here, let Mexico and China create their own market for cheap plastic crap
  • Unions - getting new rules that make it easier for workers to organize, without management having the ability to threaten and intimidate workers with a years long campaign and enforcing laws against employers firing union organizers

And to counter the right wing liars who are spouting off all over the air waves…

  • America is not a center right country, unless supporting nationalized healthcare (66% of Americans), wanting out of Iraq (70%), supporting women’s access to abortions (all three initiatives limiting it failed this year), medical marijuana, stem cell research, or any other issue you can name that the Democratic progressives take, if that support is center right then what is liberal in their worldview?
  • Obama ran as a post partisan, no mandate for the Librul Reid – Pelosi wing of the party, blah blah blah. But then they told us for 6 months that Sen. Obama was the mostest liberal Senator? So the people voting for him must have been pushing for the most ever liberalistic agenda, right? Of course, pResident ChuckleNuts lost the popular vote in 2000, and he never acted for one day like he didn’t have the keys to the car, and we all better sit down and shut up.

At this point the Republicans have reduced themselves to a party only representing small rural states; other than Texas 34 and Georgia 15, none of the states that went red have more than 11 electoral votes, and the rest don’t have many folks living in them. Those few people left in those states (the ones who didn’t get educations and move to big cities) tend to work for ADM, Monsanto, the US Army or Wal Mart, all of which rely heavily on government handouts (or theft of my money) in subsidies, price supports, tax breaks, tax incentives or other government funding.
